Three Months

Our Bowie-bird is three months old as of yesterday (well… two days ago since I haven’t figured out how to make this blog publish in our time zone)! Holy goodness. Let’s see, what’s new this month…

  • Bowie smiles with her mouth wide open for mornings, kisses, and her own beautiful reflection in the mirror.
  • She’s now almost double her birth weight!
  • She’s started pushing piano keys down! She played her very first note on November 3rd. After playing/singing Harvey Danger’s “Little Round Mirrors” with her on my lap, I sat her up closer to the piano. She put her left hand out and played the B below middle C. We play a song or two together just about every day, and each time she plays a note I show her a scale and chord built from it.
  • She is starting to laugh! While we’ve caught some mid-sleep giggles, Lola (Grandma Lita) got Bowie’s first awake laugh playing peek-a-boo while getting her out of her day clothes and into some pajamas.

Two Months

Bowie is two months old today! How did that even happen?! Some things about her:

  • The following songs make her smile really big: “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,”  “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” and of course… “Bicycle Race” by Queen.
  • She also tends to be smiley after pottying or having her diaper changed.
  • Chicka Chicka Boom Boom seems to be her favorite book right now.
  • She sings “ooh”s and “oh”s when I wear her while playing piano and singing. (Or I’m misunderstanding her terribly and she’s just politely trying to tell me to pipe down.)

Anyway, here are some snaps from the fastest two months we’ve ever experienced!
