The beginning of the beginning

The beginning of the beginning

Having just become parents, we’re pretty psyched about our baby. We get that not everyone in Facebookland feels this way, so we wanted a destination specifically for folks who want to be psyched with us. We’ll be archiving bits and pieces of our life and adventures as a brand new little family here for our bigger family out there. So in case you missed the past few months…

We made a couple of special early announcements when we first found out we were having a baby. For Christmas, each of our mothers received a package of blueberries with this label on top:

We waited until the second trimester to tell everyone else (a.k.a. Facebook and Instagram). Since Cody and I are both musicians (and so hilarious and clever), we made a faux record release announcement:

Cody and I are so excited to finally tell the internet about the brand new project we've been working on. While it's pretty heavily influenced by The Breeders and Nirvana's "In Utero," it's really different from anything we've ever done before. We're looking at a mid-late August release date, but we figured it would be okay to leak an early draft of the cover art for now.

And then the kid grew…

And we waited…

…I thought I’d be one of those ladies who had a picture every week of pregnancy to track my growing bump, but mostly it was just me bugging Cody to take a picture anytime my friend Rachel asked for a belly photo. We don’t have a full-length mirror in the house, which made for very few prego selfies (and joyous shock every time I passed my full-length reflection throughout the pregnancy). I literally took one in my 36th week…

All set for our home water birth! ;P

We made it to exactly 41 weeks before our girl was ready to make her great escape. And while I didn’t give birth in the kiddie pool our daughter will be enjoying next summer, I did spend a good deal of time laboring in a tub. More about that next time…
